So, Back in August 2021 SZA — at the behest of her astrologist — shared the tracks “Nightbird”, “Joni,” and “I Hate You” on her “private” SoundCloud page. “I Hate U” then started to gain traction, after it went viral on Tik Tok.

SZA and TDE would then put the song on the DSPs, which earned SZA her first #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and debuted at #7 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Now, she’s released a “visualizer” for the song, co-starring actor and rapper LaKeith Stanfield.
