Fans have called the album a letdown, remaining unassuaged even by Roddy releasing a snippet of a new song.
Over the weekend, Roddy released a 30-second clip of a song called Out Of My Mind on Twitter and Instagram and immediately drew negative criticism.
In the song, Roddy said, “I’ve been low, I’ve been high, out my body out my mind, take my soul take your time….”
Fans went in on him, calling the song trash and comparing his falloff to Chance the Rapper’s.
Following the backlash, Roddy deactivated his Twitter account and posted a sobering message on his Instagram story that read: “I guess Ima flop now. Shit crazy,” adding a peace sign emoji. He then deactivated his Instagram account.
Fans noticed Roddy was hurt by the comments and have started sending him well wishes, “I hope Roddy Ricch is doing OK today,” said one fan. Another fan said the attack was unwarranted and that the song was not that bad.
Live Life Fast, Ricch’s second studio album, was released on December 17. It did substantially fewer numbers than his first project, bringing in 64,000 in first-week sales compared to his first album’s 101,000.
Fans called it a flop. Roddy, in his reaction, commented on the harsh criticism and promised to restore his credibility with a redux – Feed Tha Streets 3 – in 2022.
Roddy Ricch recently left fans disappointed after he pulled out of a big performance on Saturday Night Live over COVID-19 concerns. Apparently, someone in Roddy’s team was exposed to COVID, so the California-born rapper had to cancel his appearance.
However, fans still riding with Roddy can catch up with him at this year’s Bonnaroo Festival. After two years of cancellations, The Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival is back on and with a great lineup.
The festival’s top headliners include J. Cole, Roddy Ricch, and 21 Savage. Other notable artists performing are Isaiah Rashad, Denzel Curry, Tierra Whack, Ludacris, Tinashe, and Herbie Hancock. Bonnaroo hits Manchester, Tennessee June 16-19 2022.
