Rapper Quavo is set to star in a film set in Atlanta’s street takeover car culture. He’s been featured in shows like Atlanta, Black-ish and Narcos: Mexico.
The “Bad & Boujee” rapper will now front Takeover, from Quality Films, which is part of his current label, Quality Control.
The film will be written by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard and The Fugitive) and Brandon Easton (ABC’s Marvel’s Agent Carter). Takeover will be directed by Trioscope Chief Creative Officer Greg Jonkajtys, who directed “The Liberator.”
Quavo will be playing the role of Guy Miller, a recent parolee who’s attempting to rehabilitate his life. Guy’s straight and narrow path is derailed when a series of events cause him to return back into Atlanta’s thriving and dangerous takeover scene. Guy will then have to live up to his former reputation as one of the best street operators, against a race in time.
The film plans to look at the fascination with sideshows, and stunts in car culture where drivers take over streets and parking lots to do tricks.
Quavo spoke of his excitement for the film stating, “I’m really excited for this opportunity, especially shooting in my hometown of Atlanta. This film is an ideal opportunity to further delve into my craft, and I can’t wait to see how the action plays out in this animated environment.”
On the music front, the Migos member dropped a solo track in January. Shooters Inside My Crib is the Atlanta rapper’s new offering and will likely be a part of his follow-up album to 2018’s Quavo Huncho.
The visual shows Quavo in different scenes in his house, around his awards, and playing the piano and features cameos from Gucci Mane, Cardi B, and his compatriots, Offset and Takeoff.
