Dive into the Voice Acting World with John Gremillion Welcome everyone to the Anime&Chill Podcast! Today, Abby from Your Nick of the Woods is sitting down with special guest John Gremillion. You may know him from his roles in My Hero Academia as Gentle Criminal, and Mihawk from One Piece. He has an extensive list of credits and is excited to share his stories with all of you. John Gremillion is an anime voice actor and video editor from Houston, Texas. He’s been freelance for as long as he can remember and has been recording anime since the late 90s when it was coming out on VHS. He started recording anime when the studio now known as Sentai used to be called ADV Films. He’s best known for his roles in My Hero Academia as Gentle Criminal, Mihawk from One Piece, Chef Chappelle in Food Wars, and Vampire Hunter D. He’s also had smaller roles in Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Trinity Blood, Basilisk, Darker Than Black, DN Angel, Princess Nine, Peacemaker, Panty and Stocking, Attack on Titan, and Hello Kitty. John shared how it all started for him. He heard about the opportunity from friends who saw a help-wanted ad in the Houston Press. He and his wife both auditioned, and John got the part. His first big show was Bubble Gum Crisis 2040, playing Nigel Kirkland with the Night Savers. He’s seen the evolution of anime voice acting from then to now, and it’s been a great ride. John shared his demo reel with us, which included roles from My Hero Academia, One Piece, Food Wars, Vampire Hunter D, Black Butler, Log Horizon, and Hello Kitty. He’s played a variety of roles, from dads to bad guys, and even a French Gordon Ramsay. “I’ve had like just that creative bug I guess like all through high school so you know it’s been a minute it’s been a minute” – John Gremillion John has had an incredible journey and it’s been a pleasure to have him as a guest on the Anime&Chill Podcast.
