Dupri, the founder of So So Def Recordings, received the award during a Hip-Hop 50 concert on August 14, where Atlanta’s mayor Andre Dickens described it as the “highest award” given in the city.
The hip-hop legend founded So So Def Recordings in 1993 and played a pivotal role in shaping Atlanta’s music scene. His record label was home to some of the most influential artists from the city, including Bow Wow, Kris Kross, TLC, Xscape, and Usher.
