As the seasonal change approaches, movie fans eagerly anticipate the release of several highly anticipated films this fall and winter. ‘The Burial’

A unique pairing of actors Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones takes center stage in The Burial. Foxx portrays a slick-talking lawyer who is asked by Jones’ funeral home director character to save his business from a major corporation. 

With a talented ensemble cast, including Jurnee Smollett and Bill Camp, this film promises to captivate audiences when it is released on Oct. 6 on Amazon Prime Video.

‘Not Another Church Movie’

Jamie Foxx will also take on the role of God in Not Another Church Movie. The film follows a young man sent on a holy mission to inspire his friends and community, incurring various obstacles along the way. 

With a star-studded cast that includes Mickey Rourke and Vivica A. Fox, this uplifting and comedic film is expected to release later in 2023.

‘Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story’

This documentary dives into the life and career of billionaire writer, producer, and filmmaker Tyler Perry in the documentary Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story. Premiering at the American Film Institute (AFI) Festival on Oct. 27, this intimate portrayal of Perry explores his rise to success and pays tribute to his late mother. 

Perry’s contribution to Black American cinema, particularly through his iconic “Madea” series, truly shines in this documentary.

‘Good Burger 2’

Get ready for a blast from the past with Good Burger 2, a sequel to the beloved 1997 Nickelodeon classic. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reprise their roles as Dexter and Ed, respectively, as the film follows Dexter’s journey to redemption after a failed invention. 

The star-studded cast includes Carmen Electra and co-stars from the original show All That. Streaming on Paramount+ starting Nov. 22, fans of the original will be delighted to revisit the eccentric world of Good Burger.

‘Candy Cane Lane’ 

Looking for a family-friendly Christmas movie? Look no further than Candy Cane Lane. Featuring Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Robin Thede, this star-studded cast promises a fun-filled holiday adventure. 

The film follows a man who makes a deal with a mischievous elf to win his town’s annual Christmas decorating contest, leading to chaos and heartwarming moments. Fans should mark their calendars for Dec. 1 when Candy Cane Lane releases on Amazon Prime Video.

‘The Color Purple’

In a fresh take on the classic 1985 film, The Color Purple returns as a musical. This retelling of Alice Walker’s powerful novel focuses on the hardships endured by a Black woman in the southern United States during the 1900s. 

With an incredible lineup of singers, including Halle Bailey and Fantasia Burrino, and talented actors like Taraji P. Henson and Colman Domingo, this musical adaptation promises to be a memorable cinematic experience. Catch The Color Purple in theaters on Dec. 25.

In addition to these exciting releases, rapper and television mogul 50 Cent is set to star in The Expendables 4 alongside Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, and Megan Fox. This action-packed film is slated for a theatrical release on Sept. 22, adding even more anticipation to the fall movie lineup.
