On Nov. 6, Nicki Minaj took on the role of mediator when she stepped in to assist Soulja Boy and J. Cole in resolving their differences, which stemmed from a misunderstanding.
In a conversation on Instagram Live with Soulja Boy, the “Last Time I Saw You” rapper shared a personal experience to shed light on misunderstandings. She recalled mistakenly thinking the Atlanta native had an issue with her after a performance, Minaj stated:
“I thought you had beef with me ’cause you had said something after the VMAs, and I was like, ‘Oh, let me find out Soulja mad at me. I would’ve loved nothing more than to have you there… This is a prime f**king example of how sh*t can go left real fast. I don’t know if you know, but I ended up having to perform three times, and hosting a show, and doing a red carpet, right? It was at the last minute that I even decided what I was gonna perform in that slot.”
In response to Minaj’s statement, Soulja Boy disclosed and said:
“It’s never no disrespect to the queen. We love and support everything you do. I just felt a little certain type of way with MTV, but you got it cleared up, it’s all good.”
Nicki further clarified that if J. Cole had been “hating,” she would have empathized with Soulja’s perspective. However, it became evident that the Forest Hills Drive artist’s intentions were different, and Nicki aimed to set the record straight. She stated:
“He never said that babe, he said that he was keeping it real with himself and had to admit that people like you were bringing the energy and he didn’t really want to say that to certain people,” she explained. “He basically gave you props. So what the f**k was you on when you misinterpreted it and why you sitting here doing the most again?…He don’t even strike me as that type of person.”
Soulja Boy gave in and understood what Minaj was portraying. He went to his social media to express:
“Nicki just told me I took what he said wrong,” he typed. “And that he was showing love. So I’m gonna let it go. My bad y’all I really thought dude was hating on me.”
The “Lamb Flow” rapper continued:
“My bad dawg. J. Cole sorry for the confusion. Keep doing your sh*t we from two different worlds. I stand on what I stand on, it’s hard coming from where I did man. I dealt with a lot of hate my whole career so it was just messed to think it would come from you.”
In addition, on Sunday, Nov. 5, Nicki Minaj urged her fans to stop threatening others on her behalf.
As the Queen of Rap enters a new phase in her career and prepares to drop her highly anticipated Pink Friday 2 album on her 41st birthday, Minaj is determined to maintain a peaceful environment among her followers. She stated:
“Dear Barbz, be sure to never threaten anyone on my behalf. Whether on the internet or in person. Whether in jest or not. I don’t [and] never have condoned that.”
In recent years, Minaj has faced numerous challenges due to the actions of her dedicated fan base. One instance involved YouTuber Kimberly Nicole Foster, who received threats and had her location exposed after a critical tweet about the chart-topping rapper. Kimberly stated:
“ It was normal, annoying stuff where I was like, ‘OK, block and move on. The messages became more threatening and dark, and then it started to be, ‘We’re gonna find you. I’m gonna kidnap you. I hope you get raped.”
Similarly, Jennifer Hough sued Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty over alleged harassment, but eventually dropped the $20 million lawsuit, claiming she was pressured by the fans to change her allegations.
Speaking of Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 album, the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper had made a pivotal decision to postpone the release of her highly anticipated album, Pink Friday 2. As a result, eager fans must exercise patience as the album’s new drop date is set for Dec. 8– Nicki’s 41st birthday, setting the stage for what could be an extraordinary birthday surprise.
