Ye believes the music industry is trying to systematically erase his accomplishments and prop up Kendrick Lamar in his place.
On April 12, Ye responded to a video shared on social media claiming bots are being used to artificially inflate the YouTube numbers on Kendrick Lamar’s “Luther” music video.
“Look man when I was dropping Graduation I had the whole building behind me too. That’s the way this profession is,” Ye tweeted in a since-deleted post on X below. “He got 24 Grammies. They are strategically trying to erase what I did and earned with ni**as that won’t even be remembered 100 years from now. I’m by faaaarrr the most important artist of our lifetime. Everyone that works with the Super Bowl and Grammies can suck my d**k forewvvveeeerrr ni**a.”
Kendrick Lamar has been on Ye’s hit list since the Chicago rapper started going in on everyone and everything via X back in February. In March, he gave Dot a backhanded compliment after the Compton, Calif. rapper appeared on Playboi Carti’s Music album multiple times.
“I DONT LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC,” Ye posted. “HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM.”
A few days later, he addressed Kendrick again. “I HAAAAAATED NOT LIKE US,” Ye randomly added, voicing his disdain for K-Dot’s Grammy-winning Drake diss song.
Ye doubled down on March 28. “I hated this so much,” Ye typed in reference to a video of Kendrick performing at a Louis Vuitton event during Paris Fashion Week in 2023.
