“I Feel So High” from Six Da Prophet and ReddBone QC is a hazy, feel-good smoker’s anthem built for late nights, packed sessions, and highway cruises between the Quad Cities and the Twin Cities. Over a sticky, hypnotic beat, the record celebrates the ritual of rolling up, passing around, and zoning out, turning a simple smoke session into a
full-blown lifestyle moment. It feels tailor‑made for HipHopSince1987’s core—organic street records, regional energy, and records that sound best when the aux cord is in the hands of the smokers in the room.
From the first “Smoke with me, backwoods dutches, swishers, sweets,” the hook locks in as a chant everybody in the cipher can yell together. Six Da Prophet paints the picture of a potent flower—“everything I roll up be heat,” “weed so fire that I call it cree”—while the repetitive “call it cree” tag drives home just how strong the pack is. The hook does what great smoker hooks do: it’s simple, sticky, and instantly familiar after one listen.
The verses keep the same energy but add personality and detail. One voice leans into expert stoner talk—keeping trees on deck, “popcorn chunks,” purple hash, rainbows, and cherries—delivering flexes in a melodic, drifting cadence that matches the high he’s describing. Lines like “I smell rich, solvent and iconic” and “so high call me Janet, Miss Jackson if you nasty” cut through with cleverness and charisma. There’s a regional touch too, with a shout to “driving from the Quad Cities to the Twin Cities,” grounding the record in the Midwest grind.
ReddBone QC slides in with gritty detail, talking Zion dutches, Runts in blunts, and backwoods stuffed with sour diesel “nothing but the chunks.” She keeps it street with references to pieces in the truck and a .45 “in case it’s funk,” balancing the floaty high with real-life stakes. By the time the hook returns and they admit they’ve smoked a
couple spliffs just recording the song, you believe it.
HipHopSince1987 has always prided itself on premiering records that feel authentic, regional, and ready for the streets. “I Feel So High” fits that DNA—a raw, unfiltered smoker’s soundtrack from rising Midwest voices that deserve a spotlight on a platform built for discovering what’s next.
