From Streams to Strategy: Ryan Burgess Joins beatBread to Help Artists Get Funded Without Giving Up Control

February 5, 2026 — Today, music business professional Ryan Burgess officially steps into his new role as an Agent with beatBread, expanding his mission to connect independent artists, labels, and teams with real growth capital—without forcing creators to trade away ownership, control, or creative freedom.

In an era where independence isn’t just a dream but a business model, beatBread has become a major force behind a simple idea: artists should be able to build on their own terms. beatBread’s mission is rooted in empowering artists to own their art and control their careers, while giving creators more choice in how they fund marketing, promotion, production, and release strategy.

A funding platform built for independence (and built to scale)

beatBread has grown into a global, data-driven music funding platform that helps artists and labels access advances across a wide spectrum—from $1,000 to over $10,000,000—based on real performance and future potential.

But what makes beatBread stand out isn’t just the size of the checks—it’s the structure and the philosophy behind them:
•    You retain ownership. Deals are designed so creators keep control, and the arrangement isn’t meant to last forever.
•    Recoupment is tied to streaming/airplay-style revenues, not your life: beatBread emphasizes that creators keep other income streams like merch, touring, sync, and more.
•    Artists can customize key terms—including term length and recoupment rate—so the deal fits the strategy (not the other way around).

beatBread even positions itself as a place for smarter decision-making overall, offering tools that let artists and labels compare funding options side-by-side, including offers that come from outside of beatBread.

A legacy of real-world impact

Since launching in 2020, beatBread has reported deploying over $100 million across 1,700 funding agreements, reaching creators in 42 countries—a level of scale that puts it firmly in the conversation as one of the most active modern funding platforms serving independent music.

At the same time, beatBread has continued to expand its capital base and partnerships across the industry. In August 2025, beatBread announced $124 million in additional credit and equity capital, with participation including Citi (equity investment) and additional credit funding from GMO, among others—fuel designed to deepen partnerships and widen access to flexible funding for artists, writers, and independent labels.

And as beatBread scaled its reach, the company also emphasized access to broader funding capacity—citing “hundreds of millions of dollars” in funding access as it expanded tools and deal flow for indie creators.

In late 2025, beatBread also launched a $100M Global Independence Fund in partnership with leading independent music organizations—an initiative aimed at strengthening capital access for independent labels and distributors while helping them maintain operational control.

What Ryan Burgess brings as a beatBread Agent

As an Agent, Ryan Burgess will serve as a direct connector between artists/labels and beatBread’s funding ecosystem—helping creators understand what they qualify for, how to structure a deal that protects their upside, and how to align funding with a real release-and-growth plan.

This isn’t just about “getting an advance.” It’s about enabling artists to move like businesses—financing content, marketing, teams, touring support, visuals, and momentum—while keeping their long-term vision intact.

Special thanks to Ray Daniels

This moment also comes with gratitude. A special shout-out to Ray Daniels, whose belief, connection, and support helped make this opportunity real. Ryan’s goal is clear: turn that opportunity into impact—helping more artists get funded, scale smarter, and stay in control.

If you’re an artist or label building real traction and you’re ready to grow—this is your sign to level up the business behind the music. beatBread was built to simplify the “money part” of being a professional musician so creators can stay focused on the work.
