Building upon the success of its predecessor, the animated film follows the adventures of teenager Miles Morales, who discovers he is not the only Spider-Man in the multiverse. With an all-star cast and a soundtrack featuring notable hip-hop artists, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is poised to captivate audiences and make waves in both the film and music industries.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the second installment of the Spider-Verse animated series, starring the teenage hero Miles Morales. After being bitten by a radioactive spider in the subway, Morales gains mysterious powers and becomes the one and only Spider-Man in his universe. In this sequel, the first black Spiderman teams up with a cast of spider-powered heroes from the multiverse, including Spiderwoman voiced by actor/director/”blacktivist” Issa Rae, to confront a new threat that endangers all realities.

The soundtrack, executive produced by Metro Boomin, promises to be a banger Hip-Hop fans will enjoy. The tracklist features ingeniously rolled out on social media with illustrations of the artist in cool spidey masks, including Lil Wayne, Nas, ASAP Rocky, Coi Leary, 21 Savage, Offset, and other favorites.

ATL’s own 2Chainz hosted the red carpet premiere of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” with his son, Halo, on June 1st, attracting a star-studded lineup. Attendees included Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Offset (with his sons), Metro Boomin, and more. Other notable personalities from the entertainment industry, such as Tami Roman, Queen Najia, Clearance, Nav, Bambi, and Lil Scrappy, also made appearances, adding to the excitement surrounding the film.

Following the breakout 2019 success of the first film, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” which grossed $190.2 million domestically, expectations are high for the sequel. Box office projections indicate that “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is likely to nab a $90 million bag this weekend alone.

Fans of the SpiderVerse series are eager to witness new characters and hear familiar voices in the movie, while Boomin’s exceptional soundtrack further heightening anticipation for a blowout blockbuster weekend buoyed by the culture.

Competition will be high though, with The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey in its second week having achieved the highest opening ever with a black female lead in its opening weekend.
