Drake Once Pitched A “God’s Plan” TV Show to Jeff Bezos

Turns out that Drake wanted to turn his music video for “God’s Plan” into a multi-episode show — and had even pitched the idea to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

During a post-Christmas livestream with Adin Ross, Drake handed out prizes and donations to fans, channeling the giving energy of 2018’s “God’s Plan” video.

“So you see what we’re doing tonight?” the Toronto rapper said to Ross. “This is a thing I’ve wanted to do ever since I shot that video. And I asked Jeff Bezos — no disrespect to Jeff Bezos — the word I got back was he didn’t want to do it.”

He then offered more details on his vision for the show, saying, “I want to do God’s Plan: The TV Show. Ten episodes a year. I want to travel across the world. I know there’s a lot of billionaires out there, people who have a lot of money, who don’t get a chance to put a face to their charitable actions.”

“I want to go to 10 places a year, and link with people who have an insane amount of money who have been blessed and I want to shoot that episode with them,” he added. “It’s like, sure, we could go to the club and be like, ‘Oh, well, how many bottles are you buying?’ … I wanna make my show, like, ‘How much are you pulling up to the show and giving away?’”

In his “God’s Plan” video, which was filmed in Miami, Drake goes throughout the city offering cash handouts and more. At the video’s opening, it states that its budget, which was $996,631.90, was given all away.
