Drake says he’s purchased one of hip-hop’s most iconic pieces of jewelry — and fans have strong opinions about the news. The rap superstar has reportedly added to his hip-hop memorabilia collection with a chain linked to none other than the late Tupac Shakur.

Posting on Instagram, Drizzy revealed that he purchased a diamond-encrusted Death Row Records pendant that had once been owned by Shakur. Drake also tagged collector Alexander Bitar in his post; and Bitar confirmed the deal.

1996 double album All Eyez On Me; it is considered one of the most exclusive pieces of jewelry associated with the late rapper/actor. According to the Tribune, the exact sale price has not been disclosed, but other Death Row chains have been estimated to fall between $500,000 and $1 million at past auctions.

Fans reacted intensely to Drake’s post announcing his purchase. One comment read, “Pac would’ve hated Drake as much as DMX did,” and another user warned that “Playing with Pac does not seem to fare well for many.”

But some defended Drake buying the chain.

“Don’t let these clowns trick you into believing that Drake purchasing 2Pac or anyone’s memorabilia from an auction is a problem,” wrote one user on X. “Biggie Smalls and Slick Rick both had personal items auctioned off with no outrage from anyone. Go ask Pac estate or label why they sold it off. Lol”

This acquisition follows Drake buying 2Pac’s custom gold crown ring for $1.01 million at Sotheby’s. The ring is engraved with “Pac & Dada 1996” in reference to Shakur’s then-fiancée Kidada Jones; and it was worn during Shakur’s final public appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards.
