Jeezy bares his soul in a heartfelt conversation with actress Nia Long in a video titled I Might Forgive…But I Don’t Forget. He discussed his recent divorce from former The Real host Jeannie Mai.
During the video conversation, the Atlanta rapper emphasizes the difficult nature of his divorce, expressing sadness and disappointment:
“This has not been an easy journey. I can tell you that I’m sad, I can tell you that I’m disappointed. I’m uneasy, but again God has put me in a different path, and I don’t like to fail at anything,” Jeezy said.
When asked if he went to therapy with Mai, he said he did but it wasn’t enough to save the marriage. Users on Twitter (X) reacted to Jeezy’s comments.
One user commented, “I just don’t understand if these are his issues, what made him marry her??” Another user commented, “This why y’all need to KNOW the person you’re dating before y’all advance any relationship.”
Long, herself having recently gone through a public breakup with ex-fiancé and NBA coach Ime Udoka due to alleged infidelity, empathizes with Jeezy’s situation.
“I had a really public breakup recently. It was a wake up call for me in the sense like ‘Ok you’re going to do this on your own and you’re going to be fine and you’re not going to worry about what anyone thinks or has to say” Long said.
The Friday actress also said the relationship was “rocky” for a long time and that she had to put herself first to be happy. Long and Udoka divorced due to Udoka’s infidelity.
Jeezy and Long also touched upon the topic of infidelity, with Long calling the reason men cheat is “stupid and gross” and the “Put On” rapper quipping that “real ni*gas don’t cheat.” The video, titled I Might Forgive…But I Don’t Forget, is available on Jeezy’s YouTube channel.
Jeezy’s soon-to-be ex-wife Jeannie Mai shared her side of the story and how she felt about the divorce while on the Sherri show, hosted by Sherri Shepherd in October:
“I’m not going to lie, it takes every day to sit and be quiet in your thoughts [and] take care of me,” Mai said about the divorce.
In the realm of entertainment divorces, another recent high-profile split was that of Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson. Knowles, the mother of singers Beyoncé and Solange, filed for divorce from Lawson in July after eight years of marriage.
