On Sunday, September 17, Joyner Lucas stepped forward to support Chris Brown following Tinashe’s public expressions of regret over collaborating with Brown during an interview on the Zach Sang Show. In a separate incident, Selena Gomez reacted disapprovingly when Chris Brown’s name was announced during the 2023 VMA Awards, further adding to the controversy.
In his posts, Lucas made it clear that he would not tolerate any slander directed at Brown and called out fellow celebrities for their hypocritical behavior. This incident has sparked a conversation about the treatment of artists in the music industry.
To further emphasize his point, Lucas took to his Instagram story and shared videos of a young Selena Gomez enthusiastically singing along to Brown’s music. The posts insinuated that Gomez, like many others, secretly enjoys Brown’s music despite publicly criticizing him.
Lucas didn’t stop there, as he captioned his response video with a firm statement, “No @chrisbrownofficial slander will be tolerated.”
The Massachusetts rapper continued with:
“ Niggaz be secretly fans behind closed doors and listen to @chrisbrownofficial music just as much as we do, but then go on a political hate campaign and take the position of bashing the nigga. Smh these are the same people who advocate againts bullying and being treated fair but then wanna sub bro and smear him in front of the world. I ain’t gonna watch it go down no more and not step in front of every bullet. Idgaf who you are or how many followers you weirdos got. We not doin that. * * * shout out to my bro for not loosing his sanity at this point.”
Chris Brown undoubtedly reposted the message to his Instagram story. Lucas continued:
“ I’ma say this shit one time and I’m not gonna say it again: there will be no fucking Chris Brown slander tolerated. I’m not talking about the fans; I’m talking about you celebrity weirdos that go on podcasts and start popping shit at my n-gga for absolutely no fucking reason. N-ggas making faces and shit. N-ggas tryna take shots, talking they little shit, saying whatever they say, trying to get a reaction. And then once a n-gga react to you, then you n-ggas go, ‘Oh look, see, he’s aggressive. He did Rihanna.’ No, n-gga, we not doing that.”
Lucas wrapped his statement up with:
“Chris Brown got real n-ggas that love him and respect him. He got an army behind him. I’m one of the n-ggas that love and respect him. I’m standing in front of the bullet. I’m taking every shot. He’s not gonna give you n-ggas what you want. We not gonna just use Chris as a clout tool, my n-gga. Whenever you n-ggas wanna reach, pop shit or get some clickbait one time. I don’t give a fuck who you are… If anybody takes shots at my n-gga, I’m taking shots.”
The “Under The Influence” singer didn’t let Lucas talk for him for much longer. Breezy took it upon himself to do some trolling of his own. Chris Brown then got his “get back” in DJ Akademiks’ comment section on Instagram by saying: “NAME 5 TINASHE SONGS OR DIE…[eyes emoji] EVERYBODY DEAD.”
In August 2023, Chris Brown also responded to fans who say he’s “canceled” after Ciara announced their collaboration and her EP titled CiCi.
On a similar note, Snoop Dogg came to legendary rapper, Uncle Luke’s defense when he voiced his thoughts on being left out of Florida artists who impacted the music industry. The Miami rapper addressed the industry’s long-standing disregard for Florida hip-hop.
