Memphis rap legend and Three 6 Mafia member Juicy J released his mixtape, Mental Trillness on March 31. Multiple songs on the mixtape paid tribute to the late Three 6 Mafia member, Gangsta Boo, who died on Jan.1.
The Mental Trillness mixtape delves into mental health themes in dealing with frustration, depression, confusion and relationship problems. It also features samples from Gangsta Boo’s songs “Where Dem Dollas At” and “Work Out,” which is a song that features Memphis rapper Finesse2tymes.
The mixtape also has a verse from Gangsta Boo’s “Follow Home Robbers” and of her 2014 song, “Come Off Dat.”
Juicy J and Gangsta Boo had their differences during their time as Three 6 Mafia members but eventually squashed the beef in 2014.
Features on the mixtape include an all-Memphis lineup of Aleza, Slimeroni, K Carbon, Finesse2Tymes, La Chat, and Xavier Wulf.
The rap world was shocked to hear former Three 6 Mafia member Gangsta Boo died on Jan.1.
A posthumous album is in the works and will have features from Latto, Skepta, La Chat, and fellow Three 6 Mafia member Crunchy Black. Gangsta Boo’s estate wants the album to release on Aug. 7, which would have been her 44th birthday.
