Kendrick made the announcement in a reply to a tweet that he was “officially retired” with a link to a website with a press release slip.
“From the desk of oklama, for immediate release, the following statement was released today, by oklama, through is company PG Lang at 11:00am PT in Los Angeles, CA”
The press release listed the album name as Mr. Morale & The Big Stepper. The album is Kendrick’s last under TDE and is due May 13.
Kendrick made the announcement last year in conjunction with the creation of his own label and collective PG Lang, to which rising star, and cousin of Kendrick, Baby Keem is also signed to.
In the time after his last project in 2017 DAMN, Kendrick Lamar has found himself in the shadows or in his own words “pops out only on occasion brother” but with the announcement of his new project, it truly marks the start of a new era for Kendrick.
Fans and music lovers have no idea what to expect from this new era of Kendrick, an artist who cemented his legacy in hip-hop and music due to his ability to grow and change with every project.
In the music landscape, Keem has been the source of Kendrick’s only real appearance in music in the recent times, with K-Dot having two features on Keem’s freshman and gold certified album The Melodic Blue on the tracks “Range Brothers” and the Grammy award winning song “Family Ties.”
The Rolling Loud festival is always the talk of the rap and music scene and this year’s lineup announced the mighty return and possibly one of the final acts of Kendrick Lamar.
