Regardless of the end results, it’s fascinating to me seeing the tracks I grew up on being sampled by today’s musicians.

Case in point: Lola Brooke reimagines Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up” for “Bend It Ova,” guesting A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Big Freedia. “It was very important for me to share my story first, but now the Brooklyn girl wants to go out and do the things she likes to do,” Lola said. “‘On Bend It Ova,’ two worlds come together here and Boogie [A Boogie] and Big Freedia were the perfect fit for the energy I needed on this one. I know the energy while performing this song will go to the roof.”

This will land on the deluxe edition of her Dennis Daughter album, arriving April 5.
