OutKast Gets Nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

André 3000 and Big Boi continue making history.

On Wednesday, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced nominations for their 2025 class, and OutKast were among the nominees. Other nominees include Mariah Carey, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Phish, Chubby Checker, and more.

Known for their musical eclecticism and all-around songwriting dexterity, OutKast is one of the most critically acclaimed — and commercially successful — rap groups of all time. Although they haven’t dropped a project in nearly 20 years, fans won’t give up hope that they’ll one day serve up another classic. But 3 Stacks has made it clear just how unlikely a new OutKast album really is.

“I’ll say maybe 10, 15 years ago, in my mind, I thought an OutKast album would happen,” the New Blue Sun artist told Rolling Stone. “I don’t know the future, but I can say that we’re further away from it than we’ve ever been. I think it’s a chemistry thing. We have to be wanting to do it. It’s hard for me to make a rap, period, you know? And sometimes I’m in the belief of, ‘Let things be.’”
