Police have confirmed that Quavo was not one of the aggressors during the incident. However, video has surfaced showing the Atlanta rapper handcuffed and detained by the police during the incident.
According to Miami Police, the incident unfolded after guests were informed that their rental time on the yacht was coming to an end. Two men, Cornell Whitfield from Texas and Anteneh Workeneh from Georgia, reportedly demanded a refund and became aggressive with the boat staff.
The boat captain stated that Whitfield threatened to kill him and throw him overboard if the boat turned around. Additionally, Whitfield allegedly took the captain’s wallet and cellphone and threatened another crew member’s life if the rental money was not returned.
Police were alerted to the situation around 9 p.m., and upon their arrival, they questioned multiple individuals on the yacht. An image of Quavo with his hands behind his back talking to an officer has circulated. However, no arrests were made at the scene due to conflicting statements from witnesses.
The accounts varied regarding whether Whitfield followed the crew member to another room to retrieve the rental money and whether he was seen taking the captain’s cellphone and wallet. In her case, valuable items were taken and the perpetrators fled, leaving investigators to unravel the details surrounding the people and the motive behind the crimes.
