The “Hustlin” artist donated to eight students at Miami Norland Senior High School and his alma mater, Carol City Senior High School in a collaboration with Rolling Loud to celebrate “Boss Up Day.” Eight students got $1,000 each, rounding out the donation to the schools at $8,000 in scholarships.

“It’s a beautiful thing to be rocking with the Vikings and the Chiefs out here,” Ross said of his donations.

“Him [Rick Ross] being an alumni” one of the students who received the scholarship, De’Zyre Fredrick said. “and then coming back and giving back is something that everyone should do once they go off and do something successful.”

Those students will also be given free tickets to the 2023 Rolling Loud Festival in the Miami area in July.

The donation seems like pocket change considering the $13M the Rolling Loud Festival makes annually. Rolling Loud makes approximately $600K a show with festivals around the world including Miami, Portugal, Los Angeles, and other cities.

Rolling Loud has become a popular festival and a reckoning force moving the needle for hip-hop music. By 2022, the popular festival welcomed crowds in throngs of 200K attendees, here event tickets cost at least $400 each.

Outside of the festival circuit, other celebrities like Ludacris, have made notable efforts to give back in their hometowns.  Luda teamed up with Mercedes Benz to give back to students at Miles Elementary School, donating over 1000 pairs of shoes.

Miami rapper DJ Khaled is also planning to donate similarly in 2023.  The “Wild Thoughts” artist is offering a scholarship to one seeking to attend the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment at Long Island University (LIU).
