It was announced on June 2 that Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg would reschedule their show, originally planned for June 27-28, to October. This decision was made hoping that the Writer’s Guild of America strike would have enough time to resolve.

The duo was gearing up to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their iconic album, Doggystyle, before postponing the commemorative show to support the writer’s strike.

The hip-hop moguls expressed that it felt wrong to proceed with their Doggystyle 30th Anniversary show while the creative community was experiencing significant unrest. They emphasized that the show was meant to be a joyful celebration.

In further solidarity with the striking writers, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre sent Snoop Snacks to the creative writers at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles as a gesture of support.

Hip-Hop Artists Supporting Important Causes

The support extended by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre for the writers’ strike is just one example of hip-hop artists utilizing their platforms to champion significant causes. In February 2023, NLE Choppa organized a peaceful protest in Memphis to raise awareness for Tyre Nichols, who was brutalized by five police officers.
