PureGym recently conducted a study to explore the energy expenditure of concert attendees during various performances. The study focused on analyzing the cumulative song length of each set and comparing it to the songs’ average beats per minute (BPM), indicating the “high energy” level of the concerts.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour emerged as the most tiring concert experience, featuring a performance time of approximately three hours (excluding interludes or set changes) and an average BPM of 122 across her setlist of over 40 songs. The high-energy nature of her performances, accompanied by her extensive song catalog, contributed to the physical demands placed on the audience.
According to Chris Collett, a PureGym PT, attending a concert can exceed 15,000 steps due to the energetic dancing and movement inspired by the performances. This highlights the physical exertion and calorie burn experienced by concertgoers during these high-intensity shows.
In hip-hop, 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ – 20 Years Later Tour was the most exhausting, averaging over 40 songs in his setlist. The press release emphasized that mainstream rap and hip-hop concerts can also be physically demanding, showcasing the energetic performances and extensive song lists of artists like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Kanye West, and Jack Harlow.
However, they ranked outside the top ten in terms of tiring performances. The study listed the “Most Tiring Artists to See Live,” including Bad Bunny, Beyoncé– who recently attracted the largest audience for a female artist, 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar.
These artists, known for their captivating stage presence and high-energy performances, consistently push the boundaries of audience engagement and physical endurance.
Excitement builds as hip-hop artists like Beyoncé, Drake, and Lil Baby hit the road for summer 2023.
