Tay-K‘s second murder trial is underway in San Antonio today.
On Monday (March 31), the rapper’s trial began in Bexar County, Texas court with jury selection, according to local news station KSAT. Testimony is slated to start on Tuesday (April 1). Tay-K is being tried for capital murder in connection with the 2017 robbery and murder of Mark Anthony Saldivar, who police say was shot and killed by Tay-K at a Chick-Fil-A in San Antonio while the rapper was on the lam for the 2016 murder of Ethan Walker.
In February of 2024, Tay-K, born Taymor McIntyre, rejected a plea deal in the Saldivar case. If convicted, Tay-K faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is not eligible for the death penalty because he was a minor at the time of the crime.
Tay-K is already serving a 55-year sentence after being found guilty in 2019 of the 2016 murder of Ethan Walker. Walker was killed during a home invasion and attempted robbery in Mansfield, Texas that was perpetrated by Tay-K and six other people. While on house arrest for the murder, Tay-K infamously cut off his ankle monitor and went on the run. During his time evading capture, he released the viral track “The Race.”
Police say he also killed Mark Anthony Saldivar while on the run and robbed and assaulted a 65-year-old man in Arlington, Texas, before being captured by U.S. Marshals in New Jersey in June of 2017. Since Tay-K has been in prison, he has been additionally charged with bringing prohibited substances into the facility.
XXL has reached out to Tay-K’s attorney for comment.
