Heading into Mother’s Day weekend, there’s no shortage of cool tracks coming from some of the hottest artists. They may not all be Mom-appropriate, but you’ll have to decide that for yourself.
This week, Kid Cudi finally drops his new track
“NEVERLAND” after building fan anticipation for weeks; and Mya makes a more than welcome return with her slinky new single.
André 3000 continues to prove he’s not here to play by anyone’s rules–but he is here to play
everything else, apparently–including the piano.
Each week,
Okayplayer will deliver a roundup of all the latest new heat from some of our favorite artists. Check out the latest offerings below.
NEW SONGS
KID CUDI “NEVERLAND”
Cudi fans have been waiting. The multi-hyphenate’s new track is his first new music of 2025 and serves as a table-setter for his upcoming film of the same name.
MYA “FACE TO FACE”
Back like she never left. The seductive R&B icon returns with a midtempo mover that delivers the maturity while also keeping it fun and sexy. Mya is still that girl.
TYLA, “BLISS”
After giving fans a taste at Coachella last month, the songstress delivers her thumping Afrofusion-inspired latest. This one boasts production from Nolan Lambroza, Dylan Wiggins and NovaWav.
THE WEEKND, PLAYBOI CARTI AND DOECHII “TIMELESS” (REMIX)
I
In case it wasn’t clear—2025 is the year of Doechii. For the latest example, she hops on a remix of The Weeknd and Playboi Carter’s scorcher of a single. Produced by Pharrell.
TEE GRIZZLEY, “MY GOD”
The production is ghostly and sinister and the pain is real. Deeply personal and soulful, this is Grizzley at his most introspective–backed by excellent and emotional choral voices.
UMI FEAT. 6LACK, “HARD TRUTHS”
Umi’s breathy vocals ride the groove without ever trying too hard, as 6Lack drops the laid-back lyricism that perfectly complements the track’s softly swaying energy.
OVRKAST, “I’M ON”
An anthem. The East Oakland product is set to open for Saba on his The Big Picture Tour and his new single is gritty, bouncy bit of chest-thumping swagger.
PAUL RUSSELL FEAT. SAWEETIE, “THAT GIRL”
Just a perfect slice of infectiousness. Their chemistry is just free flowing and easy, and there’s nothing wrong with a little ear candy.
THAT MEXICAN O.T. FEATURING LIL WAYNE “BABY MADE AT ME”
The two emcees play off of each other well, as this pairing makes for a heater that straddles rap generations and proves Wayne usually works well with everybody.
YOUNGBOY NEVER BROKE AGAIN – “SHOT CALLIN’”
As cocky as Thugger and as brash as classic Big Tymers, NBA Youngboy continues putting pressure on the rap game.
LELO – “PERFECT BLUE’”
Lelo returns with another exercise in subdued, yet emphatic style.
ALBUMS
ANDRE 3000, ‘7 Piano Sketches’ EP
Three Stacks is definitely branching out and vying for the most eclectic second act we’ve ever seen from a hip-hop artist. His new releases features the ATLien showcasing his artistry with a handful of emotive piano sketches.
KALI UCHIS, ‘Sincerely,’
Somewhere between R&B, pop and alternative sits this moody statement of love and affection. Kali has her own space, and she owns it on her first all-English release.
PINK PANTHERESS, ‘Fancy That’
There’s something to be said for knowing your audience. She can run through a variety of contemporary pop styles at breakneck speed and the English star doesn’t disappoint on her latest mixtape.
KEY GLOCK, ‘Glockaveli: The Don’
After dropping Glockaveli, the rhymer re-releases the project as Glockaveli: The Don complete with bonus tracks.
BRANDON, ‘Before You Go’
An album and artist that refuses to be pinned down. The many ways love affects, binds and sometimes breaks us is explored throughout this collection of alt-R&B jams from the Cali-based singer-songwriter.
