Tupac’s journey to receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame began ten years ago when he was nominated for the honor. The long-awaited moment will be celebrated with a dedicated ceremony, allowing fans worldwide to witness the star’s unveiling.  The ceremony has been confirmed to take place on June 7 at 10:30 am in Los Angeles, California, and live-streamed for fans worldwide.

The official Twitter page of the Hollywood Walk of Fame confirmed that Tupac was selected for the honor back in 2013, but it took several years for his family or estate to set a date for the ceremony. The process to obtain a prestigious star involves a nomination by committee as well as a sponsorship fee of $75,000, which covers the creation, installation, and maintenance of the star.

Tupac’s artistic legacy goes beyond his music career. He was also a talented actor, making notable appearances in films such as “Juice,” “Poetic Justice,” “Above the Rim,” and “Gang Related.” His performances showcased his versatility and established him as a multi-talented artist.

The rapper’s impact on society extended far beyond his artistic endeavors. Growing up around members of the Black Panther Party, Tupac became a noted social activist. His music often addressed pressing social issues in inner cities, making him a symbol of activism against inequality.

Tupac Amaru Shakur, born on June 16, 1971, was tragically murdered in a gangland-style shooting in Los Angeles on September 13, 1996, succumbing to his injuries from four gunshot wounds. His untimely death further solidified his status as a cultural icon and left an indelible mark on Hip-Hop fans and the music industry.

Tupac was recently honored in his hometown of Oakland, California, with a street named after him. The City Council of Oakland, California has made the decision to rename a section of MacArthur Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Van Buren Avenue as “Tupac Shakur Way.” This move pays tribute to the iconic rap legend and his deep connection to the community, where he lived as a young adult.

In related news, Los Angeles Celebrity Mural featuring Snoop Dogg, Kobe Bryant, Tupac, and more faces demolition. A mural featuring notable figures in hip-hop, including Tupac, is at risk of being demolished.  The mural, which also features Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur, and Vin Scully, has been targeted for removal by Bellwether city officials.  An online petition has raised support for the mural and negotiations are underway to keep the artist rendering alive.

Another late artist, Nipsey Hussle, was also recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, coinciding with his birthday.  Known as “Neighborhood Nip,” he was beloved in his community and opened several businesses providing jobs to community members.
