VERZUZ: The Lox Vs. The Diplomats

This was the most New Yorkingest VERZUZ of all time. Way more than Redman and Method Man’s session.

Two of New York hip hop’s most influential factions — The Lox and The Diplomats — set things off at The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, for their session tonight (August 3). All throwback jokes aside, their session was a nostalgic trip down New York hip hop’s memory lane as the Harlem and Yonkers crews respectively showed off their dense catalogs.

Yeah, I’m not gonna lie… The Dips got mollywhopped in this one. I normally don’t look at these events as a “competition,” but Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P absolutely owned the session with a combination of a commanding stage presence, professionalism, and slick talk throughout the night. The entire night was a clusterf*ck, and the energy between the factions were volatile as all hell. However, the song selection from both — scattered as it was at times — made up for the issues.

Revisit the chaos and all its glory through the playlists below.
