Young Thug is breathing a sigh of relief after a judge ruled today that the rapper did not violate the terms of his probation.

On Thursday (April 3), Judge Paige Reese Whitaker made the final call, determining that Thug should not be remanded to jail for a recent social media post where he called out an Atlanta Police Department investigator.

“Having reviewed the terms and conditions of Defendant’s probation imposed by this Court, the Court declines to revoke Defendant’s probation based on the violation asserted,” Whitaker wrote in her assessment.

Prosecutors in Fulton County, Ga., filed a motion asking a judge to revoke Young Thug’s probation yesterday after he targeted an investigator with the Atlanta Police Department in a tweet this week.

Young Thug in Jeopardy of Losing Freedom

Filed in Fulton County Superior Court by District Attorney Fani Willis on Wednesday (April 2), the motion claims that Thug, born Jeffery Williams, has recently “demonstrated a blatant disregard” for the law.

“Since sentencing, the Defendant has engaged in conduct that directly threatens the safety of witnesses and prosecutors, compromises ongoing legal proceedings, and warrants immediate revocation of probation,” the filing reads.

Specifically, the motion mentions Thug sharing a photo of Atlanta Police Investigator Marissa Viverito on social media on Tuesday (April 1). Viverito is currently testifying in a gang murder hearing and was ordered by a judge not to be shown on camera. However, Thug reposted a photo of Viverito on X along with the caption, “Biggest liar in the DA office.” Subsequently, Viverito’s home address and her parents’ home address were posted online by people on social media and she was also the target of death threats, the filing reads. Thug’s post has since been deleted.

“The State urges this Court to take swift and decisive action by revoking the Defendant’s probation and remanding them into custody without delay,” the filling continues.

Prosecutors claim this is not an isolated incident and part of a “calculated campaign of intimidation, harassment and misinformation designed to undermine the legal process.”

Young Thug Responds to Motion

Young Thug appeared to respond to the new motion on social media on Wednesday night. “I don’t make treats to people I’m a good person, I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone,” Thugger wrote on X. “I’m all about peace and love.”

Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, has also commented on the motion. “It is never appropriate to threaten to murder another person,” he told local Atlanta news station WSB-TV. “The prosecution’s motion to revoke Jeffery’s probation should not be well-received and should be swiftly rejected. It is irresponsible to file a motion of this sort when Jeffery has done absolutely nothing…to violate any condition of probation or threaten a witness.”

Last October, Young Thug was sentenced to 40 years, with five to service, but commuted to time served with 15 years of probation, followed by backloaded 20 years after pleading guilty in the YSL RICO case. There were also several stipulations part of his supervised release, including paying multiple fines, abstaining from going to his Cleveland Avenue stomping ground unless visiting immediate family, staying away from gang members and promoting gangs in any way.
